Introduction

Welcome to the Notre Dame College Interactive Timeline

Hello! My name is--- I was the--- For over 100 years, Notre Dame College shaped lives, inspired learning, and built a community rooted in faith, service, and academic excellence. Founded in 1922 by the Sisters of Notre Dame, the college served as a vibrant home for students, faculty, and staff until its closing in 2024.

This timeline is a tribute to that legacy. Created through the combined efforts of alumni, friends, and historians—many of whom were faculty, staff, and administrators—this project was born from a shared love for the college. We came together with a single purpose: to ensure the memory of Notre Dame College, and the people connected to it, continues to live on. This timeline is a place to reflect, reconnect, and remember.

The timeline is organized into three chapters:

1922-1975: The founding years and the growth of a mission-driven institution guided by the Sisters of Notre Dame.

1976-2001: A time of transformation, academic innovation, and transition toward a coeducational future.

2002-2024: A bold, modern chapter defined by diversity, resilience, and the final years of Notre Dame College’s story.

We are especially grateful to the donors who made this project possible. Their generosity ensured that this vision could come to life. Please note: this timeline is not intended to be a comprehensive record of every event in the college’s history. With such a rich and layered past, no single platform could contain it all. But it is our hope that this space will honor the essence of NDC, and provide a meaningful way for all who loved it to stay connected. We hope you will enjoy, visit often and share with your friends… Notre Dame College: Our history. Our legacy. Your story continues here.
